The general purposes from living rooms are spot for watching TV, relaxing, friends entertainment, having fun with the children.
The living room layouts are almost the same in every home. It includes a seating area, a focal point, usually fire place or TV and a dining area in some cases.
4 lighting points in the living room
Center Ceiling Lights
We name it center ceiling lights due to the position, fixed in the ceiling, and it is used as the main light source in the room. Wait until you discover the suggestions for mood lighting scenes, you’ll find them as the least ideal and least used light source.
Seating/Sofa Table Lamps
Put the low level seating area / sofa table lamps on a side table by the end of the sofa. But if you have a large room, you can more table lamps surrounding the sofa by each side.
Low Level TV Floor Light
This has to be one of the most important lighting positions in the family living room. The reason for this is that because the images on the screen flash from dark to bright scenes continually every time you watch TV in the evening. Find a good location for the lamps like by the TV or behind the TV when possible to help your eyes overcoming the continues pressure from the light level that keeps changing.
When you turn the lamp on, it can reduce the pressure that your eyes receive and has to adapt to the TV images which keep changing, thanks to the nominal light level in the back ground.
TIP: I really recommend this light because besides reducing or eliminating the eye strain that you get every time you watch TV, it can also lift up the TV viewing pleasure to another level. Trust me! I’ve done it myself.
Floor Standing Up Light in the 3d Corner
The 3rd corner is the corner with no TV or seating area on it. Perhaps, it is the farthest corner from the window or behind the door. To narrow the corner choices locating the light source, a power point is needed.
A halogen up-lighter is normally used as the floor standing lamp. Since it will be dimmed, you won’t have to provide higher wattage, less than 150 watts is my suggestion.
TIP: the use of ceiling light will be so much reduces by table lamp and the floor standing lamp. And when it is possible, the free standing lamps alone are already enough to fill the need of lighting in the living room. Additionally, you may remove the ceiling light.
