The Night Sky.
People have been starring at the sky for ages. They studied it in the field of astronomy to understand how stars are made. They follow it in the field of astrology as a guide for life. They have written about it in poetry and painted it on canvases. It has also just been enjoyed simply, while lying on a field of grass.
If you wanted to bring a little of that sense of wonder back into your own home, it can be done with a moon and stars bedroom theme. This theme is perfect for a child’s bedroom, but it can also be adjusted to an adult’s bedroom.
The most important things to consider when creating a moon and stars bedroom are : the colors, the form and the lighting. All of these factors will determine the overall feel of the room.
For the colors of a moon and stars bedroom its’s best to stick with darker neutral colors such as gray and black, various shades of blue and white as the contrasting color. Think of space stations and technical gadgets. Their colors are often gray or blue.
The second thing to consider is form. This theme is best suited for modern/ contemporary furniture with clean lines and minimal details. The focus should be on the walls and ceilings, not the furniture.
That brings us to the lighting. Here’s where the theme can bring in the most fun elements. Lamps and fiber optic lights can be installed on the ceiling. Or use a starlight projector that can be installed on a bedside table or dresser as a nightlight.
Murals can be painted with glow in the dark paints or wall decals of the moon can easily be applied to walls or furniture. Even chalk board paint can be painted on one wall and the constellations can be drawn on or changed as the night sky changes.
You can even get the kids involved by letting them help you make their own room decorations. Here’s a fun video of DIY stars in a jar:
